On another gorgeous autumn day Stoke completed their interclub program with a resounding  victory. Two winners by 5 & 4 and one by 5 & 3.  This takes the unbeaten home run to 16 matches. The inaugural fixture against Longcliffe played in perfect Autumn conditions. Things were looking black for Stoke after the first three games only produced one half but the last five games all won. A win by the narrowest of margins.  After seven games scores were even but the last pair produced the goods to seal the victory. A few leaves blowing about as the first signs of autumn but no rain for over three weeks and the course is rock hard.  Stoke made full use of their home advantage to complete a win double over Market Harborough for the second consecutive year.  Keith Dugmore & Alan Harvey won 6 & 5, Tim Haward & Peter Stewart lost 6 & 5, Peter Gill & Malcolm Edwards won 6 & 4, Trevor Harvey & Don Werner won 3 & 2, Chris Woof & Ernie Armstrong won 7 & 6, Brian Ayto & John Wright lost 4 & 3, Phillip Varley & Joe Kime halved.

On a day with a fresh north easterly wind, Stoke continued their strong home form with a 5 - 3 victory over the neighbours from Belton Park. This was a very good win against a strong visiting team looking for a winning double. On a fine September morning Stoke went down to a strong home team . Special mention must go to Barrie Griffin, the only winner today with Captain, for exacting due revenge on his old Club for the "welcome" he received when he walked into the Clubhouse ! On a very blustery day when the par 5's were more like par 7's, a strong home team once again took the honours. On a warm summers day Stoke had their second best result of the season with a 7 1/2  to 1/2 victory. This compensates for the 7 - 2 defeat at Blankney. Club Captain Steve Cullington joined the Seniors for this match and teamed up with the Seniors Captain and played their equivalent office holders from Radcliffe, despite them winning their encounter the rest of the Stoke team could not do enough to avoid defeat and complete their first losing double of the season. On a bright and breezy day Stoke achieved a first for the season, 8 games in the match without a defeat to be seen!  Best winners were the Captain, (back on the winning trail!) with partner Mick Rance 6&5, but special praise goes to Eric Bamford and Jim Price for Eric's first win since his heart problems last year. On a lovely summers day Stoke Seniors bucked the usual trend of losing on foreign fields with a great away win 5 1/2  to 2  1/2.  Some notable scores 5&4 to Brian Ayto & Ray Elsome and 5&3 to Ernie Armstrong  & Don Clements. On a day that threatened thunder and lightening we all managed to complete 18 holes more or less in the dry. The fireworks mainly came from the home team with a resounding win. Played on a blisteringly hot day with the course looking as if it could be late September, we had a typical away result, a 5-3 defeat. Some good performances caught the eye though, none more than the two Davids who won 6&4. On a swelteringly hot day we managed to just defeat our visitors from the Far East !!  4½ to 3½.  Both Captain and Vice with respective partners had the best scores of the day, both winning 5-3. On a scorching hot day the home team were too hot for Stoke to handle, despite a winning start for the first two matches the team fell away to a disappointing 5 1/2 to 2 1/2 defeat. On a beautiful summers day Stoke Seniors halved with their notoriously competitive local rivals. The result was in doubt until the last match who came in with the best result of the day. On a fine day with the course looking and playing its best Stoke were pushed to a very hard fought narrow victory against a team who were determined to put on a better display than last year. Best winners were Greg Ewart & Chris Woof. Captain had the shot of the day with his first eagle recorded at Stoke on hole 2. Four matches went down to the 18th. On a dull cloudy day, playing on heavily sanded greens we came a close second - thus spoiling our winning start to the season. K.Dugmore & D.Bennett won 7 & 6, T.Haward & J.Smeeton lost 4 & 2, G.Ewart & T.Harvey won 1 up, G.Miller & C.Woof won 1 up,  D.Clements & D.Werner halved,  P.Varley & A.Childs lost 2 & 1,  J.Kime & C.Mills lost 3 & 2 and N.Marris & J.Lindley lost 4 & 3.

In a reversal of fortunes after last year's thrashing 0 - 6,  the Seniors regained their dignity in a hard fought match.  K.Dugmore & P.Stewart lost 4 & 3, P.White & T.Smith lost 2 down, T.Harvey & D.Hamston halved, G.Miller & D.Hamilton won 2 up, G.Ewart & T.Garland won 1 up and E.Armstrong & P.Varley won 1 up.
