After the rain of the two previous Wednesdays this was the first match played in glorious summer conditions, 20 degrees plus and sunshine throughout. A comfortable win with all of the eight matches decided before the last hole.  A.Childs & J.Kime won 4 & 3, K.Dugmore & A.Harvey won 3 & 1, C.Woof & Roger Smith won 2 & 1, P.White & C.Mills won 4 & 3, C.Donnison & R.Slack won 6 & 4, M.Burton & B.Wilson lost 4 & 2, M.Dickinson & C.Howett won 4 & 3, J.Wright & G.Hubbard won 2 & 1.

Torrential rain made it particularly difficult for our visitors and Stoke took full advantage with the first 'whitewash' win of the season and the third in the last twelve months.  Ron Kent's first Seniors match.  A.Childs & Ron Kent won 3 & 2, E.Armstrong & R.Nicholls won 1 up, N.Marris & E.Harby won 1 up, C.Donnison & D.Hamilton won 5 & 3, D.Goodwillie & W. Stephenson won 8 & 6, B.Ayto & Roger Smith won 7 & 6, J.Smeeton & B.Wilson won 5 & 4, J.Wright & R.Elsome won 5 & 3.

Vice Captain Keith Dugmore took his team to Torksey for the second match of the day and were only narrowly beaten.  K.Dugmore & W.Barber halved, T.Harvey & D.Bell lost 4 & 3, G.Hubbard & A.Harvey won 4 & 2, P.Varley & J.Stapleton lost 3 & 2, C.Watson & M.Edwards lost 2 & 1, T.Garland & C.Howett won 4 & 3, R.Slack & Ray Smith lost 3 & 1, A.Dolby & D.Whight won 3 & 2.

With rain showers threatening the whole afternoon, we were outplayed. Well done to Ray Elsome and Dennis Whight for their victory, and a good half by the Captain most ably supported by Wilf Stephenson. A.Childs & W.Stephenson halved, K.Dugmore & E.Bamford lost 3 & 2, R.Elsome & D.Whight won 2 up, M.Dickinson & D.Hudson lost 2 & 1, J.Acton & A.Harvey lost 2 & 1, C.Woof & A.Dolby lost 2 down, J.Williamson & J.Price lost 6 & 5, D.Goodwillie & D.Werner lost 2 & 1.

Much of the match was played in rain, and despite the first two pairs winning, the team surprisingly lost at home.  Some consolation in that the last time Stoke lost at home to Burghley Park was in 2003, and it signaled the start of the famous 52 match unbeaten run - dream on!! A.Childs & J.Wright won 6 & 4, J.Stapleton & E.Harby won 2 & 1, C.Woof & R.Beal lost 5 & 4, R.Smith & R.Leverett lost 2 & 1, P.Varley & F.Bellingall lost 1 down, D.Werner & D.Bell lost 1 down, J.Williamson & I.Smith lost 6 & 5, K.Dugmore & M.Edwards won 3 & 2.

A bitterly cold east wind did little to stop Stoke achieving one of those rare events in seniors golf, an away win, and the first of the season.  Only one game went to the last hole and that was halved. A.Childs & C.Donnison lost 3 & 2, K.Dugmore & J.Kime won 2 & 1, T.Harvey & D.Hamilton won 4 & 3, M.Dickinson & P.Stewart halved, D.Goodwillie & J.Callow lost 5 & 3, A.Jessop & Roger Smith won 3 & 2, B.Ayto & D.Clements won 3 & 2, J.Wright & R.Slack lost 6 & 5.

A match played on a typical April showery day, Stoke again demonstrating their difficulties on away courses, the greens on this Kibworth course are outstanding for April yet again.  A.Childs & A.Dolby lost 1 down, K.Dugmore & R.Elsome won 1 up, C.Woof & R.Beal lost 2 & 1, J.Kime & T.Garland lost 4 & 3, J.Wright & D.Werner won 5 & 3, G.Hubbard & J.Smeeton lost 5 & 4, W.Stephenson & P.Varley lost 3 & 1, E.Bamford & E.Harby lost 4 & 3.
