Winter Activities

The next Annual General Meeting of Stoke Rochford Seniors is scheduled to be held in the clubhouse at 8.30am am on Wednesday 19th January 2011.  

 
The next Seniors Annual Dinner Dance will be held in the  clubhouse on  Friday 12th November 2010 at 6.30pm for 7pm. 
Winter Warmers competitions commence in October and are held on most Wednesdays through to March. They are open to all Stoke Seniors and are individual, team and novelty games with a different format each week. The emphasis is on enjoying the game and is a very good chance of playing with different partners each week. Points are awarded 5 for the best score down to 1 for each person competing. The finale is a lunch at which wine and spirits prizes are usually presented to the leading six players over the winter. Roy Rowe was the winner in 2010. Seniors Winter League commences its twelth year in October 2010. Entries are in pairs with each being required to play eight games of better ball match play with one point for each hole won, half point for halved holes. On completion of the league during January the leading four in Division One and the leading two teams in Division Two play off to in knock out to decide the overall winners. Champions in 2010 were Keith Dugmore & Wilf Stephenson. For more details please see the Winter League page
The Christmas Buffet Lunch and Bring & Win will be  played on Wednesday 15th December 2010.  Allowed only 2 clubs plus a putter each player provides a prize for the table with the leaders picking first.
Lincolnshire Past Captains Competition is organised annually.  It is played usually in August on a different course each year.  The planned future venues are

2012 Cleethorpes
2013 Spalding
2014 Stoke Rochford
2015 Holme Hall, Scunthorpe

The competition is open to past and present Seniors Captains.  The following seventeen Stoke members qualify to play. Bill Hendrey, Joe Lindley, Malcolm Renshaw, John Callow, John Helstrip,  Dennis Whight, John Wright, Alan Jessop, Richard Leverett, Fred Bellingall, Walt Barber, Alan Harvey, Philip Varley, Don Clements, Joe Kime,  Keith Dugmore & Tim Haward.

In 2009 at Market Rasen Keith Dugmore was 2nd overall with 39 points and Alan Jessop 4th of the 176 competitors.  With 26 clubs entered Stoke for the first time won the silver salver team prize using the aggregate of their top three finishers, Keith Dugmore, Alan Jessop & John Helstrip.
